Fire as transforming sculptor?

Also this weekend I cut and gessoed a second 76 x 51-inch sheet for another — and likely my last — large painting here. It will be another close-up of a single burned tree, strangely sculpted by fire at its base. I can imagine it facing After the First Death in a kind of totemic archway. It has been noted(1) that coastal First Nation art is usually about transformation – usually animals and people — but this is transformation of a different sort: physical, chemical, environmental.

Imagine having the wall space to paint (2) 76 x 51-inch pieces side by side!
